One hundred and twenty athletes from all over Piedmont for the Special Olympics athletics event [FOTO] – Targatocn.it

The event got patronage of the Piedmont Region, the Province of Cuneo, the Municipality of Cuneo, CONI and EPS Libertas and the support in the organization of the provincial director of Special Olympics Italy Alessandro Romano.

For the occasion, around ten Special Olympics Italy Teams arrived in Cuneo from all over Piedmont, for a total of around 120 athletes with intellectual disabilities accompanied by technicians, volunteers and family members. The athletes will alternate on the track in the athletics disciplines, some with “special” peculiarities of our movement, to allow everyone to participate in the 10 meter assisted walk, the 50 meter walk, the 50 meter wheelchair slalom… the speed of 50 / 100 / 200 / 400 / 800 meters… the throwing competitions with the ball, the tennis ball, the shot put, the vortex… the standing long jump competitions, the long jump with a run-up, the running jump high… the long races of 1,500 / 3,000 / 5,000 / 10,000 meters and the relays! …

The event represents, for all the athletes and all the people who make up the team, the opportunity to showcase the fruits of the training carried out throughout the sporting season and demonstrate how much strength and tenacity there is within each of them… always keeping in mind the Special Olympics Athlete Oath: “May I win, but if I fail, may I try with all my might!”
