Church of Foligno in mourning for Don Iaffaldano

Diocese of Foligno mourning the passing of Don Vittorio Iaffaldano. Known to all as Don Domenico, the priest was born on 13 May 1934 in Noicattaro, in the province of Bari. Don Iaffaldano would therefore have turned 90 next Monday. The parish priest arrived in Spello in 1973, at the Pious Union of the Little Sisters of Saint Francis, now the Associazine Casa della Povera Gente, in the guise of a religious of the Carmelite Order.

After three years, a period of leave granted by the superior of the Neapolitan Province of the Carmelites to live outside the convent, the bishop of the Church of Foligno Siro Silvestri had temporarily incardinated him in the diocese with the title of job description of the Cathedral.

In 1980 he was definitively incardinated into the secular clergy of the Diocese of Foligno and, shortly afterwards, appointed parish priest of Forcatura. In 1996 he was appointed administrator of the parish of Colfiorito.

From 2005 to 2021 he was parish priest of Rasiglia and chaplain of the Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Grazie, where he chose to lead a hermitic life, praying and invoking the Madonna for the particular intentions that were asked of him by pilgrims and visitors.

The funeral will take place on Monday 13 May at 3pm in the cathedral of Sant’Agostino – Sanctuary of the Madonna del Pianto.
