It took place today, Saturday May 11ththe day of Red Cross in Actionthe initiative born from Youth Group of the Velletri Committee which is committed to creating an event aimed at children and families. The day was created on the occasion of World Festival of the Italian Red Cross on May 8th, which celebrates the birth of this precious and indispensable institution which today is an essential element for the community.

The event divided into two parts, both in the morning and in the afternoon, in the Marconi Park of Velletri, named in memory of Matteo Demenegosaw many games and activities planned to entertain, especially children, faced with particular daily dangerous situations.

The deputy mayor of the Municipality of Velletri was present, Chiara Ercoli who assisted in the preparation of the various sections and was involved in the illustration of the day. The activities have been divided into six main objectives which represent six aspects of society which, in this specific historical period, are constantly evolving. A day of understanding and fun, created by young people Leonardo Andreucci And Martina Shehu, which addressed several topics:

  1. Objective: road safety education, the children played group games (such as steal the flag) and were asked questions to learn to distinguish a good situation from a bad one; for example: distracted driving, being drunk, choosing to get into a car with a stranger etc…
  2. Objective: health and hygienein this step the children experienced correct hand washing, essential after a very long period of pandemic where the little ones must learn the right ways to avoid contagion from each other.
  3. Objective: general state of emergencythe children were asked to create their own ‘life-saving backpack’ with everything they needed to live in an extreme emergency situation and therefore make the right choices between what to bring and leave.
  4. Objective: active listeninga story was told about a woman who suffers violence with veiled terms and harmless allusions, the children listened and were invited to interpret the details in the correct way in order to understand how to act and move in such a situation.
  5. Objective: international law with role play; the children were placed in an imaginary ‘war camp’ and had to distribute humanitarian aid to those who needed it most, avoiding the ‘enemy’ and trying to figure out the right quantities for each person.
  6. Objective: Developmentat the end of all the activities the children told us through drawings and writing what they had learned from such a dense and teaching-filled day.

The event took place thanks to the contribution of sponsors, including: the bar O’Seagullthe bakery there Cacchiatellathe sweet shop Lollipopthe GF Services and the pizza restaurant The Scissors.
