On Tuesday 14 May, starting from 09.15 am, the Vice President of the Council and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Matteo Salvini, will be in Taranto for the inauguration of the start of the construction phase of the rolling stock depot intended for the BUS RAPID TRANSIT (BRT) network ), the great work that will revolutionize the urban public transport service in an epochal way.
The event, strongly desired by the municipal administration led by the mayor Rinaldo Melucci, will be held near the Local Police Headquarters, in via Acton 77, and will see the participation of the mayor of the Ionian capital, his Excellency the Prefect of Taranto, Dr. Paola Dessì, and Admiral Vincenzo Montanaro, commander of the Southern Maritime Command.
The overall investment for the BRT project amounts to approximately 300 million euros and is financed through the Next Generation EU Funds and involves the construction of two lines, Blue and Red, which will connect, respectively, the Tamburi District with the Circonvallazione dei Fiori in Lama and the Paolo VI neighborhood with Cimino.
