TARANTO – The Vice President of the Council and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Matteo Salvini, will be in Taranto on Tuesday 14 May for the inauguration of the start of the construction phase of the rolling stock depot intended for the BUS RAPID TRANSIT (BRT) network, a project intended to revolutionize the urban public transport service.
The event, strongly desired by the municipal administration led by mayor Rinaldo Melucci, will take place near the Local Police Headquarters, located in via Acton n.77. The mayor of the Ionian capital, Her Excellency the Prefect of Taranto, Dr. Paola Dessì, and Admiral Vincenzo Montanaro, commander of the Southern Maritime Command, will also participate in the ceremony.
The BRT project represents a total investment of approximately 300 million euros, financed through the Next Generation EU Funds. This ambitious plan involves the creation of two lines, the Blue and the Red, which will respectively connect the Tamburi District with the Circonvallazione dei Fiori in Lama, and the Paolo VI District with Cimino.
At the end of the ceremony, the Authorities will be available for a brief press point. Please note that access to the area close to the construction site will be limited for safety reasons. Editors, cameramen and photographers of newspapers and broadcasters will be able to access it by showing their membership card to their Order.
