Women in the Church, the series of meetings begins

It starts from Viareggio the series of meetings Women in the Churchpromoted by the Diocesan Historical Archive and the Diocesan Library of Lucca, in collaboration with BiblioLucca – Network of libraries and archives of the Province of Lucca.

It will address the central theme of role of women within the Church. A topic – that of female emancipation and the conquest of rights – which has always sparked debates even within traditionally male-led institutions, such as the Catholic church. In the first meeting, Monday (13 May) at 5pm, church of the Santissima Annunziata in Viareggio, the figure of Clelia Merloni (Forlì, 10 March 1861 – Rome, 21 November 1930), founder of the Apostle Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the city of Viareggio, beatified by Pope Francis on 3 November 2018.
