Game 3 of the quarter-finals of the men’s Serie A2 basketball playoffs (silver bracket) was an in-or-out game. Piacenza, however, showed off its pride and thus reopened the series against Trapani Shark thanks to the home victory which arrived with the final result of 88-86. Everything was postponed until game 4 for the Granata, who were one step away from match point for the semi-final.

It was clear from the start that the hosts wanted to reopen the series. Piacenza had a very decisive start and was at 19-15 at the end of the first quarter, while at half-time it was 53-40. The Sicilian team tries to get back into the game in the third set, which ends at 70-70. The last period was fought point by point, but in the end the Emilians prevailed 88-86.

Coach Andrea Diana of Trapani Shark commented on the match after the final siren: “Congratulations to Piacenza who is playing with enormous confidence and, especially with Veronesi and Querci, found very difficult baskets. The regret we have is the second quarter where we conceded 34 points and this in the playoffs is a mistake that you cannot afford to make. We must improve our defensive structure and play Game 4 to the best of our ability so as not to extend the series further.”
