The Deputy Mayor of Mariupol in Brescia: “We need military help”

“We need military help.” The deputy mayor of Mariupol Denis Kochubei thus responds, in the most direct way possible, to the question of what his city and more generally Ukraine needs today. Kochubei was in Brescia yesterday and was received at Palazzo Loggia by an administration delegation led by his Brescia counterpart Federico Manzoni.

“Russia can say anything about the fact that the supplies of armaments will aggravate and lengthen the war, but this is not the case – he added to Èlive – History says otherwise because the war can only be defeated militarily”.

The aim of the visit, organized thanks to the intermediation of the ADL Association in Zavidovici Impresa Sociale, was to allow the Ukrainian Municipality to highlight its efforts in continuing to provide services to its citizens, despite the fact that its officials are currently in exile due of the conflict that exploded in 2022.

Kochubei told us about the current situation in his city: “The city was 90% destroyed, but the Russians are now partially trying to rebuild it. However, they ask citizens living there to acquire Russian citizenship by violating all laws of private property. In fact, without Russian citizenship, a citizen cannot buy or sell real estate or anything else. Russia is trying to replace the local population with people it brings in from Russian regions and Asian countries.”
