The CISL of Cosenza and the FIT CISL Cosenza express solidarity with the Amaco workers after learning that the Court of Appeal of Catanzaro has definitively ruled on the bankruptcy of the Company
It is necessary without giving both an immediate and concrete answer on the future to workers and their families, and certainties to the users of the capital, left without an essential service.
In the meeting between the parties called for next Monday, we will ask the Mayor of the City to activate with Cometra and the Calabria Region a transitional public transport exercise that involves the entire workforce of Amaco, while waiting to identify the person designated to manage the new local public transport in Cosenza, which for the CISL must maintain the connotation of a service of public interest.
For the CISL, every effort must be aimed at guaranteeing full employment of all workers, as part of a more stable company organization that restores serenity to workers who are now exhausted due to this long and troubled affair.
It is also necessary to reflect on the broader crisis of Italian and European TPL. Precisely in these hours, the ETF (European Transport Workers’ Federation), through its Urban Public Transport Committee, in which the associated unions are represented and in which our Federation is directly involved, has drawn up a political document called “Transport public, the beating heart of urban mobility”, in which attention is drawn to the Manifesto of European transport workers.
We ask for decisive political action on public transport, which must recover its reliability and its nature as a service of public interest, remembering that this service is the heart of all urban mobility, indispensable for an efficient economy and for the oriented transition towards sustainable mobility.
