On Thursday 9 May, the State Police arrested two boys of Neapolitan origin, one from 1989 and one from 1995, in flagrante delicto for attempted aggravated fraud. The investigative activity carried out by personnel of the Flying Squad of the Potenza Police Headquarters revealed the modus operandi of the suspects.
The two, after instilling in an 83-year-old lady from Potenza the fear that her son had caused a serious road accident and that for this reason he could suffer serious criminal consequences, induced her to hand over a bag containing a bag containing 500 euros in cash and some jewels. On this occasion the two suspects even managed to convince the victim, who was clearly agitated, to go to a service area in Via Appia in Potenza to hand over her savings, so as not to go to the woman’s home. .
The arrest of the two fraudsters was achieved during a targeted service to combat predatory crimes ordered by the Potenza Police Commissioner Giuseppe Ferrari with the use of plainclothes personnel. During this activity, the Flying Squad operators noticed the suspicious behavior of the two perpetrators of the crime and therefore monitored their movements, finally managing to arrest them immediately after the delivery of the stolen goods by the victim. At the time of reporting, the stolen goods were returned to the victim.
