The appointment with the is approaching Barontini Cupthe fascinating and evocative rowing race in the heart of the Livorno area of Venice Saturday 15 June 2024.
Dedicated to the memory of Ilio Barontini, legendary partisan commander, the event, which this year celebrates his 55th editionproposes a series of collateral initiatives.
“This year too we have a rich range of initiatives, created with the precious contribution of Enoturistica, which combine the sporting, cultural and social aspects that have always distinguished the Barontini rowing event – declared the president of the organizing committee Monica Bellandi –. A program that focuses on peace and memory as absolute values, but also tradition and the desire to be together and be a cohesive community”.

The presentation of the Cencio
The events will start on Friday 10 May, starting from 6pm, with the boat tour dedicated to the nautical sections, supporters and the press, and, subsequently, the presentation of Cencio 2024, created by the artist Federico Maria Sardelli who will present his book “Lucietta”, as part of the “Maggio dei Libri” initiative curated by the section. COOP members. On this occasion, an aperitif with tasting of wines from the “Le Donne del Vino” production is planned.
A label for wine
Thursday 6 June will instead be held “The Cellar in the Cellar”, an event linked to the twinning between rowing cellars and scheduled wine cellars. For the occasion, the label for the Coppa Barontini 2024 wine will be presented, chosen from among those developed by the students of the Liceo Artistico Cecioni and IIS Vespucci-Colombo of Livorno. Following, Letizia Tinghi, Olympic roller skating champion, vice-president of the National Association. Italian Olympic Athletes, will draw lots between the wine cellars participating in the initiative and the rowing cellars. An aperitif tasting will be offered in the cellar with the Cantine Vinicole Enoturistica producers.
Women, sea and theatre
The highlight of the calendar will be the theater show “The Odysseys“, of which Alessia Cespuglio is the author, director and performer, scheduled for Monday 10 June at the Fortezza Nuova. The evening will be opened at 9pm by the players of the ASD Livorno calcio women protagonists of the II Benetti Trophy. The show is dedicated to the sea, to women, to young people, with a very particular set-up which will see the four-oared gozzettes and the young people of the nautical sections as protagonists.
The 2024 Barontini Cup
The program will then close with the Barontini Cup on 15 June along the ditches of Livorno. The first to compete, starting from 8pm, will be the 4-oared gozzo boats of the junior and female categories for the Edda Fagni Trophy (a 980 meter route starting from Piazza Cavour and arriving at Scali Delle Cantine).
At 10.30pm it will be the turn of the 10 oars, with the usual route of 3,000 and 200 meters (beginning and finishing in front of the lawn of the Fortezza Nuova) and departure in reverse order to the arrival of the last Risi’atori Cup. The awards are scheduled for 11.30pm.
