Carabinieri save tourists stuck in the mud

The Carabinieri of the Lercara Friddi Company (Palermo) were involved in rescue operations for two Danish spouses, who arrived in Sicily for tourism and were left stranded due to bad weather and prohibitive weather conditions in the countryside of Castronovo di Sicilia.

In particular, the two, aboard their car, were trying to reach an accommodation facility in the area and, to orient themselves, they had relied on the directions of a navigation application on their mobile phone, which led them to an unpaved country road where, after several kilometers, they remained bogged down.

The soldiers, after having established contact with the unfortunate people, following the references provided by them and exploiting their knowledge of the area, managed, after several hours, to locate them. Once located, the workers immediately offered first aid, immediately requesting the intervention of the Civil Protection and the Local Police of Castronovo di Sicilia, while at the same time coordinating the frenetic phases of the rescue, made particularly difficult by the rain and mud. The two tourists were accompanied to the barracks and from there they safely reached the hotel where they would stay.
