Bari, two (temporary) kiosks arrive in San Giorgio for the summer

The summer is now upon us and, as happens every year, the coastal area that crosses the city of Bari will be overrun by citizens and tourists. And the municipal administration is working to entrust concessions on maritime state property and, consequently, allow the setting up of structures for the administration of temporary food and supplies. Therefore, interesting news is on the way for the Bari coast. “We have already given temporary concessions,” the municipal councilor for Productive Activities, Carla Palone, told Telebari – one in Torre a Mare and two others in San Giorgioin the area after Torre Quetta. They are kiosks on the sea with platforms and removable services, with a three-month concession for private individuals. After the summer season, they will dismantle and leave.” Two summer kiosk bars, therefore. But the works in progress and the news also concern the other seaside areas of the city.

“We are under notice with ‘Mitiladriatica’ – continues Palone – while ‘L’Ancora’ by Palese is under investigation. There are some artefacts, some are under investigation because they have already been banned, while others are ongoing. Others such as ‘Grotta Regina’ and the former ‘Bellezza’ are being examined to be able to ban them and entrust them. Those on the San Girolamo waterfront are all already under concession. Only one is missing, a restaurant, which is under ban at the moment, while the four premises under the fence, plus the side one facing the sea, are all already entrusted”. The position on regulations and bureaucratic issues regarding concessions is also clear. “We are adapting to what is the national line – states councilor Palone – which says that municipalities are obliged to issue tenders if there is a need and lack of space. We have sent letters to the various concessionaires, including beach establishments and tourist concessions such as restaurants, saying that we will have to start issuing tenders by 2024. The TAR has also confirmed this direction, so we will work to issue tenders for all the concessions we have on the Bari coast”.

Not just new places to eat and quench your thirst, but a piece of coast can also become a platform for doing physical activity or for lying comfortably and fully experiencing the sea. “One of the last concessions – concludes councilor Carla Palone – precisely to Torre a Mare: in a piece of coast where there was an old concession, the ‘Baita’ with a wooden house, a platform has been created which will be freely available to citizens throughout this summer”. The installation of the wooden platform on a stretch of coast in Torre a Mare was announced on social media by the mayor Antonio Decaro. “In Torre a Mare, with a small concession – writes Decaro – a small piece of coast has been reborn. A wooden platform, requested by a private kiosk, in compliance with restrictions and authorizations, was enough to revive a stretch of seafront”. “Many people left their homes and found themselves here to have fun and spend a few hours in the open air. This is the objective – concludes Decaro in his post – for which we have worked in these ten years and on which every redevelopment project of our 40 kilometers of coast is based, to create spaces that become places lived in by people, to reclaim our sea” .
