Atalanta has reached the historic Europa League final, where they will face Bayer Leverkusen. President Percassi spoke out about Gasperini’s future, rejecting the Napoli option.
The Naples is looking for his next coach, who will have to relaunch the team after a practically unsuccessful year. President Aurelio De Laurentiis has been working on various fronts for months and months, with several coaches ending up in the sights of the Azzurri boss.
Among these there is also Gian Piero Gasperini, who has just reached the Europa League final with his Atalanta. After the match against Marseille, President Percassi announced the future of the Dea coach.
Naples, Percassi dismisses Gasperini: the declarations
Atalanta has just achieved another historic result, namely access to the Europa League Final. Great credit obviously goes to Gian Piero Gasperini, which in recent years has transformed the entire world of Atalanta. The Italian coach will try to make Atalanta even greater, leading them to conquer this European competition against Bayer Leverkusen.
Meanwhile, as we well know, Gasperini has ended up in Aurelio De Laurentiis’s sights for the Napoli bench, but it will be difficult to snatch him from Atalanta. After the Atalanta-Marseille match, he spoke to the microphones of Sky Sports the president of the DEA, Antonio Percassiwho expressed his opinion on Gasperini’s future:
“Gasperini did an extraordinary job. It’s unimaginable to be in two finals and fighting for the Champions League. Every now and then Gasp is a little peculiar when things don’t go the way he would like. The coach has another year on his contract. There’s no way anyone will come and get him. If the coach shows up, we’ll talk about it otherwise there’s a contract for us.”
Percassi’s compliments arrive to Gasperini for the work done, but also a confirmation for next season, given the other year of contract that the coach has with the Bergamo team. However, the future is in the hands of Gasperini, who will decide at the end of the season whether to stay at Atalanta, or embark on an adventure in a more famous club. Currently, however, the focus is concentrated towards this end of the season, in which Atalanta is playing for a place in the Champions League and beyond. La Dea can aspire to the Champions League thanks to the placement in Serie A, but obviously also thanks to the success in the Europa League. Furthermore, there is also an Italian Cup final to be played, and therefore Gasperini’s future can wait. The discussion is certainly open, with the Bergamo management and the coach who will talk about it at the end of the season, with Napoli awaiting news on this front.
