ROVIGO – Historic real estate, sports facilities, parks, schools: the Commenda district is one of the largest and most heterogeneous in the city. With the last administration the neighborhood saw the start of important interventions and others are still in the program for the next mandate: Edoardo Gaffeo will talk about them in a meeting open to all on Saturday 18 May in Parco Maddalena where, starting from 5.00 pm , will also deliver to citizens a 36-page publication on the projects completed and those to be completed for the future of Rovigo.
In addition to the mayoral candidate proposing for a second term, the meeting will be attended by the councilor candidates and representatives of the political forces that support him.
Many, therefore, are the issues that will be directly focused on by the mayoral candidate, who will be available to address any issue of interest to citizens.
Sports facilities and schools
During the event on May 18th in Parco Maddalena we will talk about, among other topics, the role of sports facilities and outdoor activities. First of all, the heart of the neighborhood, the Temple of Italian Rugby, the West Stand of the Battaglini, thanks to redevelopment interventions, now has new seats that make the environment more welcoming and accessible, adding the scenographic red and blue “ROVIGO” writing.
Among the most significant innovations, the creation of a space dedicated to skateboarders stands out, a Skate Park where they can give vent to their passion and teach the discipline, always in total safety. Finally, the Arturo Ponzetti indoor skating rink will be completely renovated by the end of 2025, thanks to a loan of 2.1 million euros.
Not only sports, but also culture and education are receiving new life with regenerative art. The Sports Hall, the Classical High School and the Bonifacio secondary school have seen their facades enriched by the art of Roregeneration.
Park and former Maddalena Hospital
On the Maddalena complex, a precious green lung for the neighborhood, the Gaffeo administration worked on two fronts: the park was expanded, with the removal of the construction site dividing fence and the creation of new areas for family relaxation and enjoyment . As regards the former Maddalena Hospital, an important piece of history in the neighborhood is about to be redeveloped with an intervention financed for 13 million euros, of which 8 will be earmarked for the former hospital.
Social Services and Local Police
The building in via Marconi, known as ex Balilla or ex Riccoboni schools, has been renovated to house the Social Services and the new local police command, simultaneously increasing the coverage of the area and offering a modern and functional structure.
Masslo Square
Masslo square, with its new identity designed by the architect Renzo Piano’s team, has become a meeting and socialization place for the whole community, transforming a concrete platform into a lively and welcoming space.
Langer Park
With its 7 hectare forest, Parco Langer and the former shooting gallery structure will both be subject to redevelopment to host events related to environmental education and guided nature visits. The redevelopment project will be implemented in six phases and with a total investment of 1,465,000 euros, for which the support of the Cariparo Foundation has materialized for a value of 700,000 euros to which are added the 200,000 euros previously allocated and the 125 thousand euros responsibility of the Municipality.
