Christian Di Martino, the 35-year-old policeman stabbed during the night near the Lambrate station in Milan, is originally from Salerno. The attacker was a 37-year-old Moroccan with several criminal records, many of which in Campania.

The North African was arrested for attempted murder, while the agent risks his life. The police intervened after reports of a man throwing stones at trains. One of the rocks had hit a woman in the head.

Once on site, the policemen were attacked: Di Martino was stabbed 3 times in the back. Colleagues managed to immobilize the 37-year-old, alerting the emergency services: Di Martino is hospitalized in serious conditions at the Niguarda hospital in Milan.

There were many reactions. The Head of State, Sergio Mattarella, asked the Minister of the Interior for information on the health conditions of deputy inspector Di Martino, expressing closeness to the Police.

“I am following with apprehension all the developments regarding the attack that took place last night at the Lambrate station in Milan, where a policeman was stabbed several times by a visibly altered non-EU citizen who was throwing stones at trains and people. To the injured officer, to his my closeness to the family and colleagues of the State Police”, the words of Giorgia Meloni.
