ROVIGO – “On the issue of the new seat of the Court, in our opinion, the priorities are clear: identifying a site, additional to the main one in via Verdi, which brings together all the ‘secondary’ ones, in order to allow rationalization and savings , in terms of rent, as requested by the ministry; maintain the activity of the courthouse, with the related activities it generates, in the centre, avoiding the creation of urban voids; avoid delays that could lead the Ministry of Justice to ‘do it on its own’, by authoritatively identifying a seat or, even, proceeding with the merger of the Court of Rovigo with that of Padua, a hypothesis not excluded and which would be ruinous, depriving us of a fundamental service”.
On the now age-old question of the court and its ‘enlarged’ seat (READ ARTICLE), intervenes Federico Frigato, candidate for mayor of the Rovigo Si Ama civic list in the next local elections on 8 and 9 June. “Once again – he explains – we risk hurting ourselves and losing important opportunities, due to carelessness and lack of knowledge of the topics”.
“We must not forget how the Court of Rovigo, after having been at risk of being merged with that of Padua several times, has instead enjoyed an expansion of its catchment area, absorbing jurisdiction over a good part of Lower Padua. This means that, every day, dozens, if not hundreds, of public employees, professionals, witnesses, defendants, experts and consultants, who previously went to Este, the headquarters absorbed by Rovigo, come here to the city. The positive effects are evident. The fact that this expansion goes hand in hand with the request for new premises is evident.”
“The choice – says Frigato – is to maintain and redevelop the current headquarters in via Verdi and to provide for the necessary construction of another headquarters in the premises of the former police headquarters, with adjoining arrangement and renovation of the adjacent former fire brigade barracks of fire. A choice that responds to the need to maintain the service in the centre, for the benefit of public places and establishments”.
