The deed of constitution of the Abruzzo section of the Automobile Club Italia (in 1926 transformed from an association into a “moral body” with the acronym RACI – Reale Automobile Club Italia), bears date 15 May 1924. The headquarters was established in Teramo, the recognition was valid for “the Abruzzo and Molise region”, and the event had a great impact since it involved the formation of the first club at a regional level. The main protagonist of this initiative was Giovanni Spinozzi, in a historical moment in which – after the First World War – the diffusion of the machine and engines in general was accompanied by the economic recovery of the country. Spinozzi was the pioneer of motoring, in Teramo as well as for the whole of Abruzzo thanks to the creation of the “Società per Autotrasporti Abruzzo”, and he threw himself headlong into this new adventure with the belief that, over time, the automobile would have a great future for civil society. It was the era in which car license plates required that the name of the province be written in full (Between 41905 and 1927 the names of the provinces were replaced by a numerical abbreviation with reference to the list of Italian provinces in alphabetical order: Aquila had the 8n .3, Chieti on the 19th, Teramo on the 62nd). Together with Spinozzi, the Marquis Diego De Sterlich, driving ace, Domenica Ponno, believed in the creation of the partnership. Baron Giovanni Casamarte, Sabatino Sabatini and his brother Antonio without forgetting Alberto Guerrieri, the uncle of the gomalist Marcello Sabbatini. The first board of directors of the new regional association had Spinozzi as president. The wind of futurism, the myth of speed, was in the air and Teramo became its interpreter. That epic will be remembered and relived in the centenary celebrations,
