The Molise Region releases the residence income to repopulate small municipalities

The Residence Incomethe bold project conceived by the former regional councilor Antonio Tedeschi and financed with approximately 980 thousand euros to repopulate the small municipalities of the Molise, said goodbye. The idea, which had hit the front pages of the international press, was revoked by Regional Councilwith the decides number 210 of 7 May.

THE DOWNTOWN OF AN INNOVATIVE INITIATIVE
The idea of Residence Income was simple but revolutionary: offer an economic incentive to anyone willing to move to one of the small municipalities Molise residents with less than 2,000 inhabitants and start a business. An attempt to revitalize those countries at risk of human desertification and essential services. But, as often happens, bureaucracy prevailed.

BUREAUCRATIC OBSTACLES AND CHANGE OF COURSE
The project encountered several obstacles, including problems related to residence permits for potential foreign beneficiaries. Furthermore, the technical evaluation of the projects would have to be entrusted to a commission of external professionals, a cost that the region cannot afford. Added to this is thepandemic emergencywhich changed priorities and economic conditions.

THE FUTURE OF THE MILLION EUROS
The million euros intended for Residence Income it will not be lost. It will be reprogrammed and allocated to other projects, subject to the signing of a new agreement with the Ministry of Economy and Finance and with the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy. The objective will always be to promote measures of economical progress.
