“Together towards the future city”. The former Church of Carmine hosted an event dedicated to the declination, in the territory, of UN objectives for sustainable development.
From clean and accessible energy to decent work, from innovation to the reduction of inequalities through concrete commitment to peace. “There are 17 objectives and 169 targets that must be concretely implemented at local level – comments Dario Naddeo, manager “Piacenza 2030” -. I believe that the Municipality can and must have a fundamental role in integrating what is global into the local”.
The role of universities
The role of the universities and colleges present in the Piacenza area is fundamental in this process of training and experimentation linked to sustainability. “The young people are the protagonists of planning initiatives designed for their peers and for the future of our community” highlights Letizia Gazzola of the Piacenza Youth Service.
An appointment, which is among the initiatives linked to the “Cresco Award Sustainable Cities” award and is part of the program of the Asvis Sustainable Development Festival: Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development born in 2016 to raise awareness of the importance of the Agenda 2030 for sustainable development and to mobilize Italian society, economic and social subjects and institutions in order to achieve the sustainable development objectives.

Present at the initiative were the mayor Katia Tarasconi, the regional councilor Gianluigi Molinari and the councilor Francesco Brianzi. “Sustainability is a process to be faced together, a political choice that concretely looks at the development of our territory” the words of the councilor with responsibility for youth policies and, indeed, the 2030 agenda.
Piacenza university city
At the center of the initiative is the focus on “Piacenza, a university city” and sustainability projects linked to the local universities. In fact, numerous students attending the degree courses active in the city also participated.
In the afternoon, focus on the role and commitment of the Municipality for sustainable public administration and on “Stakeholder Engagement to support sustainable development: dialogue with local companies”.
