There city of Catanzaro and AMC SpA took on a prominent role at the national conference on safety of local public transportheld on May 8th at Next Mobility Exhibition fair in Milan. AMC SpA, the only local public transport company in the South, was the protagonist of the event, addressing the crucial issue of safety in public transport.

During the conference, the General Director of AMC, Eng. Luca Brancaccioparticipated as a speaker, presenting the perspectives and actions necessary to guarantee safe and reliable local public transport.

The event, which saw the participation of important institutional figures such as the Transport Councilor of the Lombardy region, Lucente, and the Mobility Councilor of the municipality of Milan, Censi, offered an important opportunity to discuss the challenges and opportunities related to road safety in the context of public transport.

Brancaccio: “staff training and technological innovation”

In his speech, engineer Brancaccio underlined: “I thank the engineer. Tahir for the invitation to the conference on a very sensitive topic, especially in Italy. To date, all stakeholders must provide a significant contribution to keeping attention high on the culture of road safety in general and local public transport in particular”.

“In this sense, companies and the relevant administrations to which they belong must implement the appropriate operational actions in order to guarantee a radical cultural change and implement, even with significant investments, full compliance with the provisions of the EU regulations, with particular reference to 2144/2019, i.e. the ad horas adoption of advanced vehicle driving support systems”.

“The road is still uphill. On the other hand, if the responsibilities in terms of safety and security are to be attributed to the trinomial driver/manager/designer, it is clear that the sector regulations can only be considered a feedback from the design and must be determined on the basis of it. The driver’s behavior is added to the functionality of the vehicle, i.e. the full guarantee of its safety, both in terms of systems, i.e. the reduction of accidents in line with EU objectives”.

“Both in terms of safe driving understood as a high level of concentration, but above all as undertaking specific professional training processes. Staff training and technological innovation applied to the fleet represent the starting point for bridging the gap with other EU countries and for returning to the orbit of vision zero”.
