Rovereto The mayors of the Delta municipalities jumped out of their chairs yesterday morning at the news of two new construction sites (a third has been underway for a few weeks) on the Ferrara-mare highway. Already gone. A communication that, apparently, Anas had given but which evidently went unnoticed. Now, however, we need to rush to restart, at least to save the weekends, given that the works will continue until mid-July. Yesterday morning the Prefect of Ferrara Massimo Marchesiello obtained a meeting with the top management of the company already scheduled for next Thursday.

The construction sites The gymkhana begins near Rovereto for extraordinary maintenance work on the viaduct which is located at kilometer 19 and the inconveniences continue up to kilometer 26, in both directions because you are traveling on only one lane. Until 31 July, we read in the communication from Anas, there will be a ban on traffic on the northern carriageway, with the simultaneous establishment of two-way traffic on the southern carriageway. Specifically, Anas has ordered (since yesterday and until the end of July) the closure to traffic of the northern carriageway from km 18+910 to km 20+886 and of the exit ramps towards Rovereto and Portomaggiore. So for those arriving from Porto Garibaldi the exit is Migliarino, or you have to continue and get to Gualdo.

The works are in two points: on the Rovereto viaduct, which involves, among other things, the reconstruction of the external curbs and the restoration of the deck slab and also on the one that crosses the navigable canal at Ostellato. Here too you travel on a single lane heading north. The third construction site is still in progress from km 26 to km 27 (in Corte Centrale), on all lanes, with traffic diverted onto the opposite lane towards Porto Garibaldi with two-way traffic and this until 22 June.

They were commuters, yesterday morning at dawn, to warn the editorial staff of Nuova Ferrara and on social media of the latest news having found closed junctions, changes to the road system and a fair amount of traffic. The first to move, the mayor of Ostellato Elena Rossi, given that practically all the construction sites are located on its territory. «A very serious situation – he said -, also because at the moment everything is concentrated here and mine, but also that of Comacchio, is a very particular area, which sees important industrial settlements and at this moment agriculture is also in full operation. All this means that the passage of heavy vehicles is constant and the traffic is always very intense.”

The Prefect of Ferrara Marchesiello wasted no time and yesterday morning contacted the Anas leaders for a meeting. Next Thursday, at 3.30 pm, the meeting will be convened in the presence of the mayors and the president of the Province Gianni Michele Padovani.

Dialogue The opening of the construction sites took everyone by surprise but apparently, last April 20th, between the lines, Anas had announced this in a communication. A method which, however, does not find agreement with the Ferrara administrators, who had asked the company to always keep a channel of discussion open before starting with the construction sites and in any case, especially from spring to the end of summer, the request has always been to stop workers and machinery on Fridays, so as to save the weekend. And it is precisely on this point that the face-to-face meeting will focus.

The Ferrara-Porto Garibaldi motorway connection has always been a sort of nightmare for those who move from the city to the sea and vice versa. The absence of emergency lanes and construction sites, which are effectively infinite, lead to the creation of very long traffic jams, so much so that cancellations for restaurants on the coast “due to traffic” are now a constant. Over time there has been talk of the possible introduction of a toll, as well as the widening of the carriageways without ever arriving at a solution, which in reality does not seem to exist. There is a lot of exasperation. When it rains, due to the depressions, the water does not drain away and being with your car behind a heavy vehicle is extremely dangerous. There are many potholes and the constant interventions by the workers are of little use because the asphalt tends to “crumble” after a short while. And the alternative roads can no longer handle the amount of traffic that tends to increase day by day.
