The Department of Political Science of the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli” has decided to celebrate Europe Day in a special way.

On the occasion of this day dedicated to peace and unity in Europe, the department has decided to name the assembly hall after Ernesto Rossi, a politician from Caserta who was one of the main Italian exponents of European federalism together with Altiero Spinelli.

The decision to name the assembly hall after Ernesto Rossi is a way to remember his figure and his important contribution to the process of European integration. Rossi, born in Caserta in 1897, together with Spinelli wrote the Ventotene Manifesto, a document which was later published by Eugenio Colorni. This manifesto, published eighty years ago, still maintains its vitality and relevance today, representing a point of reference for a united and free Europe.

To celebrate this important occasion, a round table was organized entitled “At the origins of the European integration process: Ernesto Rossi and the Ventotene Manifesto”. The debate will take place tomorrow, Thursday 9 May, in the lecture hall named after Rossi, located at the Political Sciences headquarters in Caserta.

During the meeting, participants will discuss the historical and ideal roots of European unification, the theoretical paradigms of continental political construction and the future of Europe.

The round table will see the participation of illustrious guests, including Ambassador Cosimo Risi, Professor Piero Graglia of the University of Milan, Antonella Braga of the Rossi-Salvemini Foundation of Florence and the deputy director of “Il Mattino”, Francesco de Core. Their interventions will be moderated by the Political Science teacher, Francesca Graziani.

This event represents an important contribution to Europe Day and offers the opportunity to reflect on the past, present and future of a united Europe. The Political Science department is committed to promoting knowledge and awareness of European values, thus contributing to a future of peace and prosperity for all European citizens.
