The hearing of the Bari Anti-Mafia prosecutor has been classified

BARI, 08 MAY – The hearing of the prosecutor of the Republic of Bari, Roberto Rossi, before the parliamentary Anti-Mafia commission is taking place in secret mode. It was the magistrate himself who made a request to the president of the commission, Chiara Colosimo, to proceed ‘behind closed doors’ “because there are parts of the investigations – he said – which are inevitably public because they are contained in the precautionary custody order”. parts that refer to ongoing investigations, so I prefer to “resort to secrecy” to avoid having to remember, from time to time, which is secret and which is not secret. It would become complicated. The magistrate’s hearing concerns the recent investigations into the risks of mafia infiltration in Bari, after the arrests for vote-swapping (including political-mafia) which also ended up at the center of the political debate in recent weeks. Governor Michele Emiliano will also be heard by the Anti-Mafia on these facts on May 10th. There is a lot of anticipation regarding the summons of the former magistrate and number one in the Region, especially on the part of members of the centre-right (and not only). The topics of the questions to be asked to him have already been partially anticipated by some parliamentarians during the sparks of recent days with the commission: only a few days ago, indiscretions, never confirmed, had circulated on a possible connection between the request for resignation of the former extraordinary commissioner of the regional agency of Puglia, Alfonso Pisicchio, now under house arrest, and the still secret investigation concerning him. In the previous weeks, however, doubts had been raised by the statements of the governor, who had said that years ago he had accompanied the current mayor of Bari Antonio Decaro – then councilor of the former municipal council of Emiliano – to the home of the sister of a Bari boss to reject a threat received. The episode was later denied by Decaro himself. However, the reaction of the president of the commission Chiara Colosimo was harsh: “Emiliano’s words, true, false or misunderstood, are profoundly wrong. Every time someone suffers a threat, whoever they are, they must report it”. (HANDLE).
