“Laundry heroes”, the new series made in Modena, is set in a laundromat and will be presented as a national preview on Wednesday 12 June at the Cinema Arena, with an evening event, attended by actors and crew, in which the pilot episode will be screened and which will continue with the acoustic concert by singer-songwriter Guido Boni, protagonist of the latest XFactor and author of one of the songs on the soundtrack. The evening will be free entry and bookings are already open (on the Eventbrite portal: laundryheroes.eventbrite.com). The series will then be distributed at the main national and international festivals pending the completion of filming of the first season and its release on the platform.
Written and directed by Vincenzo Malara, already author of the “Rudi” series (awarded in numerous festivals and now present on the Chili Cinema platform) “Laundry Heroes” is a real “dramedy”, a dramatic comedy that mixes irony, drama and romance in the unusual context of a laundromat where, in search of a new beginning, Fillo, a tormented young writer played by Athos Leonardi, and Andromeda (Nicole Soffritti), a budding musician with a complex past who works as a sales assistant in a video store, take refuge. Giving life together with them to this sort of urban microcosm are other “disoriented” existences that find shelter from the daily chaos right in the laundry room.
The project is produced by Scirocco Barocco Creation and the associated producer Roberta Sghedoni, with the support of the municipal administration, the Euphonia association and local partners. “Laundry heroes” was filmed in recent months in some of the iconic locations in the center of Modena, in particular the Manifattura Tabacchi and the historic Video Bif video store, and in Sassuolo (the “Lava Più Honey” laundry). In the first episode, together with the protagonists Athos Leonardi and Nicole Soffritti, Anna Maria Pignatti, Giovanni Tosi, Silvia Rossi, Giovanna Benatti, Alberto Fidani, Christian Terenziani, Filiberto Basile starred.
The creation of the series involved a crew of 15 people, all Emilia-Romagna cinema professionals, also with a view to valorising many local figures who have already been working on a permanent basis in national-level productions for some time. The soundtrack that accompanies the story is also fundamental, with original music written and composed by Diego Salvatori, and a song by the emerging singer-songwriter Guido Boni.
