European elections, Santoro blurts out: «excluded from the North-West, elections at risk». 100 signatures authenticated by the councilor annulled Erika Guichardaz who did not affix the stamp with his qualification. Guichardaz: «No errors. There is an official document from the Valle Consiglio, registered, which identifies my person. I was qualified to be there and I checked every person.”
The justification
Guichardaz argues: «I was asked to certify the signatures for the Peace Earth Dignity list. In a spirit of service because I believe in pluralism and democratic representation, but above all because I believe that the central theme of these European elections is peace, I have given my availability. I formalized my availability to the President of the Regional Council and delivered the registered request to the organization.”
He continues: «I toured the Aosta Valley, followed the evenings and participated in the banquets and now they want to exclude this list because my position is not identified when whoever went to sign recognized me and I don’t even have homonyms. We are 35 councilors in a Region of 100 thousand inhabitants. It is unthinkable to apply the rigid rules of a normal authentication in front of a notary or official to a collection of thousands and thousands of signatures.”
The exclusion
The exclusion from the North-West constituency ballot would occur for around a hundred signatures annulled in Valle d’Aosta due to a formal defect. Erika Guichardaz, who was entitled to do so, as a regional councilor, certified them, but she did not affix the stamp with her qualification.
The point is not the number of subscriptions (there are) but a complicated mechanism of percentages for each region. Without Valle d’Aosta all those of the other regions will be canceled out. Santoro doesn’t give up: «We will fight until our last breath». And he appealed to the TAR.
