Denis Verdini leaves Florence prison: «Health reasons»

Former parliamentarian Denis Verdini was transferred “for health reasons” from the Florentine prison of Sollicciano to the clinical center of the Pisa prison.

According to what we learn from Verdini’s lawyer, Marco Rocchi, the 73-year-old’s conditions are “incompatible” with prison detention and the supervisory judge has appointed an expert who is evaluating this aspect. The hearing is scheduled for May 30th before the judge of the supervisory court of Florence.

Verdini must count 15 years and 10 months in prison for the accumulation of three convictions for bankruptcy.

In January 2021 he obtained house detention for health reasons, due to the spread of Covid, a decision later confirmed by the supervisory court of Florence in July 2021 for age reasons.

Last February, however, his house arrest was revoked for having violated the requirements imposed by the same surveillance court, after the former senator from Ala had participated in three dinners in restaurants in Rome, where he had been authorized to go for visits to the trusted dentist and staying overnight at his son Tommaso’s house.
