Terni is colored with pride with the First Transfem Pride

A full calendar of events precedes the May 25 parade, underlining the commitment to diversity and inclusion

Transfem Terni Pride, a crucial event for the LGBTQIA+ and transfeminist community, is animating the city of Terni with a series of preparatory events that will culminate in the parade on May 25th. This series of initiatives aims to raise awareness and promote inclusion, addressing issues of fundamental importance to the community.

The activities began on May 10th with the inauguration of the photographic exhibition “Corpi”, curated by Marta Carlini at Caffè Cavour. This event laid the foundations for a series of meetings that will take place in various venues, including a screening of the documentary film “Food For Profit” at CSA Cimarelli, followed by a discussion focused on anti-speciesist issues. The following Saturday, the Casa delle Donne hosted “Reading without stereotypes”, a reading event for children organized by Progetto LeggiAmo – Il Pettirosso aps, thus promoting early education in inclusiveness and diversity.

The Saturday program was further enriched with “Voci Libere”, an open mic and poetry slam at CSA Cimarelli, where artists and activists explored the theme of self-determination. The day ended with the musical performances of “Lo Scantautore” and the Roman singer-songwriter Rita Negrini, aka “Circe”, promoted by Lunatika Factory.

On Sunday, the attention shifted to the Lab.biciclario, where the event “L3 Figli3 e chi l3 Ama” was held, a meeting dedicated to families, rights and equality, strengthening the message of acceptance and support for within the community.

The organization of Transfem Terni Pride, stimulated by the “Esedomani Terni” association, saw the participation of numerous local associations. This collaboration led to the decision not to request the patronage of the Municipality of Terni for Pride, in response to the statements deemed sexist and diminutive made by the mayor, reflecting a shared commitment against patriarchal culture.

These solidarity actions, together with the series of events, not only set the stage for a meaningful celebration of Pride but also highlight the need for deep and lasting cultural change. The commitment of the organizing committee and participating associations demonstrates an active model of resistance and celebration of diversity, inviting the wider community to reflect on the importance of respect and inclusion for all members of society.
