Chess: Barletta crowns its young Under 18 regional champions

Great success for the regional phase of the Italian Under 18 Youth Chess Championship, which took place in Barletta on 5 May. Young talents from all over Puglia challenged each other with ingenuity and strategy on the chessboard, giving life to an exciting tournament that highlighted the great excitement of the Apulian youth chess movement.

For the AD Chess Club Foggia, among the protagonists of this edition, the new Regional Champions Marco Santoro, Lucia Zuppa and Stefano Fatibene, who established themselves in their respective categories with high-level performances. A round of applause to all the participants who, with their enthusiasm and dedication, demonstrated the excellent quality of the Apulian chess school.

Special thanks go to the parents, the true driving forces of this sport, for their constant support and for the precious contribution that makes the realization of events of this magnitude possible.

Also from Foggia, honorable mention for Carlo Mazzeo and Mario D’Aloia, who stood out for their commitment and passion. Also worth highlighting is the excellent performance of the new Under 8s Antonio De Martino and Sofia Berardi, who have demonstrated great talent and promise to provide great satisfaction in the future. Applause also goes to Elia Terrenzio, who with courage and determination faced more experienced players despite his young age.

The Italian Under 18 Youth Championship ended with a more than positive result, confirming Puglia as one of the regions with the most promising chess realities in Italy. A nursery of talent which, with the right support and the right opportunities, is ready to achieve increasingly prestigious goals.
