Foggia, weekly Friday market moved to May 11th

This week the weekly ‘Friday’ market, in via Miranda, will exceptionally take place on Saturday 11 May.

The decision was made due to the concomitance of the admission tests for the Tfa Support-IX cycle courses, with a significant number of competitors arriving (in fact there are 4000 registered) in the City of Cinema, the venue established in the municipal territory, on the 7th, 8, 9 and 10 May.

On May 2, the rector of the University of Foggia, Lorenzo Lo Muzio, sent a certified e-mail to the municipal administration with a request to postpone the weekly market, due to the critical issues feared in the management of traffic and the risk of possible gatherings.

The Department of Productive Activities – as reported by Palazzo di Città – immediately started a close and constructive discussion with the trade organisations, “in the awareness of the importance of the weekly market for itinerant trade, for users, for operators and for the local economy on the one hand; and of the need to guarantee the full safety of people and the regular conduct of selective tests on the other” we read in the communication.

The solution found, the only one possible due to the concomitance of the tests also in the previous days, is to hold the market on Saturday, and the mayor signed the relevant ordinance. “We apologize for any inconvenience caused, which does not depend on the municipal administration” –
