Savona. An immersive journey to discover the hidden treasures of the Ligurian Sea thrilled the students of Savona. On Monday, in the Sala Della Sibilla at Priamar, a fascinating meeting was held dedicated to cetaceans, marine mammals and the wonders of the Pelagos Sanctuary, organized by the Municipality in collaboration with the Menkab Association.
Thanks to video projections and the passionate explanations of Menkab biologists, the children were able to explore the depths of our sea, discovering the rich biodiversity that hides just a few steps from the coast. The absolute protagonists of the meeting are the cetaceans: from dolphins to fin whales, majestic creatures that populate the Pelagos Sanctuary, one of the most important protected marine areas in the Mediterranean.
The event represented a precious opportunity to raise young people’s awareness of the importance of protecting the marine environment and to increase their knowledge of a unique and fragile ecosystem. The children showed great interest and curiosity, asking questions and interacting enthusiastically with the biologists.
In addition to admiring the fascinating images of cetaceans, the students also discovered the monitoring and protection projects of the marine environment carried out by Menkab, with a particular focus on the Marine Protected Area of Bergeggi Island. A concrete commitment to safeguarding a priceless heritage, which represents a precious resource for our territory.
The initiative, received with great success, has once again demonstrated the importance of educating new generations about protecting the environment and making them aware of the beauty and fragility of the world around us.
