The Cesena area is approaching the municipal elections on 8 and 9 June with a picture also outlined in the eight ‘minor’ municipalities that go to vote together with the capital Cesena. In the smaller towns there is no shortage of mayoral candidates who are the expression of civic lists. Voting takes place in Savignano, San Mauro Pascoli, Gambettola, Mercato Saraceno, Montiano, Roncofreddo, Borghi and Roncofreddo. In this electoral round the citizens of Cesenatico, Longiano, Gatteo, Sarsina and Verghereto are not called to vote.
Savignano it is the only municipality together with Cesena that exceeds 15 thousand inhabitants, it has around 18 thousand. We go to the vote with three mayoral candidates sharpening their weapons. The first represents the continuity of the Democratic Party, Nicola Dellapasqua, former deputy mayor who wants to take over the baton from Filippo Giovannini with a very broad coalition that goes from Italia Viva to the 5 Star Movement. The opponents are Luca Pirini at the head of a civic list ‘Coraggio Savignano Cambia’ which claims the choice to stay away from political parties. The third candidate is Lorenzo Sarti, son of Kitty Montemaggi, a long-time exponent of the Savignano right. Sarti, an architect, leads the Savignano Futura civic list, in a coalition that also includes centre-right parties with the mission of changing the color of the municipality of Savignano after ten years of Dem government with Giovannini.
TO Gambettola PD mayor Letizia Bisacchi left her role as mayor in tears after just one term. A “sacrifice” made to preserve the unity of the party. The centre-left candidate is Eugenio Battistini, director of Confartigianato who will have to deal with Denis Togni, former municipal councilor supported by the centre-right area.
TO San Mauro Pascoli the lawyer Moris Guidi is running with the centre-left to take over from Luciana Garbuglia who led the Pascoli municipality for a long time. The center-right is counting on Simone Pascuzzi, former city councilor and coordinator of Fratelli d’Italia. Pascuzzi is running under the banner of the San Mauro Futura civic list, but enjoys the support of all the centre-right parties. Brawl a Bagno di Romagna where there is a three-way challenge: vying for Visione Comune is Enrico Spighi who wants to continue the path undertaken by Marco Baccini who left after two mandates. The opponents are Enzo Montalti with the centre-left list Insieme per Bagno di Romagna. The center-right supports the candidacy of nuclear engineer Olinto Bergamaschi from the Andare Oltre list.
Even the smallest municipalities in Cesenate are going to the polls, such as Montiano where the outgoing mayor Fabio Molari is even running for a fourth term, there are no limits as the town has under 5 thousand inhabitants, there are not even alternative lists to the centre-left one. TO Villages the outgoing mayor Silverio Zabbeni of the center-right must defend the role of mayor from Dario Placca, municipal secretary of the Democratic Party. TO Saracen Market Monica Rossi is running for the third mandate with a centre-left list, the fierce challenger is the agricultural entrepreneur Ombretta Farneti who has the support of the entire centre-right. TO Roncofreddo Sara Bartolini is looking for confirmation for the centre-left, the cento-right candidate Simona Amadori who curiously was deputy mayor more than ten years ago in the ranks of the centre-left.
