retired official, municipal tax office closes

The municipal councilor and group leader of Fratelli d’Italia, Francesco Spadafora, presented a question to the Mayor on the closure of the municipal tax office, due to the retirement of the Responsible Official

Press release

Cosenza – The municipal councilor and group leader of the Brothers of Italy, Francesco Spadafora, this morning he presented a question to the Mayor, Franz Caruso, regarding the closure of the Tax Office about a month ago, due to the retirement of the Responsible Official. The councilor highlighted “the inconveniences that Cosenza taxpayers are experiencing”.

Spadafora points out that “the closure of the aforementioned office means citizens have to go exclusively to the offices of the Concessionaire for the Assessment and Compulsory Collection of municipal revenues, i.e. from the company Municipia SpA, where on a daily basis there are not only high flows of taxpayers, but very long queues and interminable waits of citizens, who rightly, following the notifications of the documents deriving from the investigation activity, demand clarifications or information”.

“This state of affairs – specifies the representative of Fratelli d’Italia – is causing considerable inconvenience to taxpayers, especially to the elderly, some of whom go to the aforementioned offices only to make a change to their position or carry out a simple and quick declaration of registration/cancellation of the user”.

Furthermore, the group leader Meloniano highlights that “he himself, since the beginning of the council, together with the council group to which he belongs, has raised on several occasions the critical issues linked to the issue of municipal taxes, including that inherent to the importance for the community of the maintenance and functioning of the office for which it was necessary to propose the interpellation in question”.

In light of this, it was deemed urgent to urge the Mayor “to find out the intentions of the municipal administration regarding the issue of the Tax Office, and more specifically what actions it intends to undertake to allow the functioning and consequent reopening of the same, so that can provide an important service to citizens in one of the fundamental functions carried out by the Municipality”.

“I believe – concludes councilor Spadafora – that it is urgent to intervene in order to resolve the disservices caused to the taxpayers of our city. I hope that the Mayor’s response will not be long in coming.”
