Walking through the city centre, in addition to being able to enjoy the passion of the districts that train for the Palio in Piazza Municipale and admiring the monuments free from the weekend crowds, you cannot help but notice decidedly neglected and degraded corners.
For those lucky enough to live, work or simply pass through Piazza della Banca d’Italia there is the possibility of admiring every evening an ecological island that is not affected by the social communication of the environmental councilor Balboni, who has been flaunting the flag for five the presence of ecological guards for years and promises photo traps to punish those who abandon waste.
In fact, every evening outside the bins one finds leftovers of flowers and plants, polystyrene containers wrapped in yellow bags from nearby Asian restaurants and various rubbish from those who have long since understood that there is no control.
This privilege does not only concern Piazza Torquato Tasso but also other streets in the center where they don’t even try to carry out decent waste collection.
But the final joke is the environmental councilor’s appeals which remind us of the value of civic sense and the responsibilities of those who abandon them.
Since punishing abandonments seems to be possible only on social media, the totems can be moved to the most critical areas to raise awareness even among the most indifferent citizens of this problem, or else we must surrender to incivility and the impossibility of asserting civic sense. ?
