According to the M5S regional councilor, Rosanna Conte and Alessandro Manera, candidates for the European elections, would have used the charity race to advertise themselves

A exhibited at Corecom in Veneto for an alleged infringement of electoral campaign rules was announced by Venetian regional councilor Erika Baldin, of the 5 Star Movementafter last Sunday theNorthern League MEP Rosanna Conte took part in the non-competitive “Treviso in rosa” race, showing off a sign with the slogan “Conte in Europa”. “This behavior is in bad taste and completely reprehensible – comments Baldin – not only for the blatant circumvention of current regulations on electoral communication, but also for the low level of showing off during a charity event, such as the Treviso marathon, to raise funds for the fight against cancer (which saw the participation of over 10 thousand women, ed.”. Furthermore, according to Baldin, “It wasn’t just Conte who violated the rule, but also the deputy mayor of Treviso Alessandro Manera, another candidate in the European elections for the League, intervened when the regulation clearly states that institutional communication in this period must have characteristics of necessity and impersonality. So instead it was a parade of mere propaganda, which only those in power were able to exercise, to the detriment of all the other lists in contention”. Baldin finally reports that the Northern League mayor of Treviso himself, Mario Conte, noticed this and had the sign removed.
