FLORENCE (ITALPRESS) – Laura Masi is the new President of the Destination Florence Foundation. The appointment took place today during the first Shareholders’ Meeting, which took place at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino with the special welcome of the Superintendent Carlo Fuortes, and saw at the same time the renewal of the Board of Directors and the appointment of the Steering Committee, further corporate body envisaged by the new statute, which is responsible for the fundamental policy actions of the Foundation. A fundamental step, this, which establishes the full operation of the new legal entity born at the beginning of the year from the corporate transformation of Destination Florence Convention & Visitors Bureau, under the guidance of the former President Jacopo Vicini, with the task of promoting effective actions, in the long term period, for the management of quality tourism, in particular linked to the MICE sector. From today, therefore, Florence will have a new strategic tool available that brings together the public and private sectors, enhancing the great wealth of know-how acquired in almost 30 years of experience in the area, to play a key role in the great game of tourism in the city.
Born in 1964, Masi has many years of experience in the world of communication and marketing. You currently hold the role of Brand, Communication and Public Relations Director of Engie Italia and for over 20 years you were Marketing Director of AC Milan. You also worked for FC Bayern Munich and ACF Fiorentina, while in the three-year period 2019 -2022 you were a member of the Steering Committee of “Valore D”, an association of over 300 Italian companies which aims to promote the gender balance and an inclusive culture in complex organizations. Her experiences include the 1987 World Cup in Rome, the organization of the baseball and basketball World Cup and the Champions League final held in Milan in 2001.
“I am extremely proud and honored to receive this role – states the new President of the Destination Florence Foundation, Laura Masi. – I return to Florence after 30 years in large companies with a wealth of skills and relationships that I will passionately make available to the city and the territory. I have this area in my heart, and the idea of ​​contributing to further valorising it through the foundation’s activity excites me. We will pay particular attention to conference tourism and MICE, but we want to make a contribution to the entire system: it is important to work together. The Foundation certainly represents a suitable model for virtuous collaborations and adequate to guarantee solid public-private governance that will allow us to achieve shared objectives”.
“I would like to express my utmost satisfaction for having achieved this important result, for which we have worked intensely for a long time – added Carlotta Ferrari, General Director of the Destination Florence Foundation. – As President of Convention Bureau Italia, over the years I have had a privileged observatory on tourism management, even at a national level, and this is why I am firmly convinced of the need for a tool that offers an inclusive governance model and allows the coexistence of public and private, with flexibility and stable financing. Finally, I would like to express heartfelt thanks to all the private partners who were fundamental during this ambitious transition phase, and who believed in the birth of this Foundation from the beginning, supporting and guiding us”.
Together with the new president, the five members of the Board of Directors and the 21 members of the Steering Committee, representing the members, were also appointed. The Board of Directors of the Destination Florence Foundation is therefore made up of Laura Masi (President), Lapo Baroncelli, Christian H. Clerc, Ilaria Da Frassini and Luca Perfetto. The members of the Steering Committee, representing the corporate structure, are Filippo Valenti and Simona Caputo (Municipality of Florence), Francesco D’Angelo (Metropolitan City of Florence), Laura Innocenti (Firenze Fiera), Stefano Innocenti (Gersit Srl), Antonio Remaschi (CIA Spa-Baglioni), Nicola Testai (OIC Group), Federico Isola (FH), Giulio Fratini (Why The Best), Riccardo Rapezzi (SYNLAB), Stefano Rosselli (Confindustria), Michael Giuliano (The Social Hub), Antonio Ducceschi (Starhotels), Lisa Grotti (Tecnoconference Srl), Fernando Pane (Sina Hotels), Guido Barocchi (CAF-Baspi), Francesca Manzani (AIM Italy Srl), Stefano Guerri (Confcommercio). The last 3 members were voted by the Members’ Assembly.
