The “Convittiadi” concluded: a week of sport, friendship and sharing in Calabria

Catanzaro – With an evocative final ceremony, during which awards were given to the male and female athletes who won the competitions in which they competed, the XVI edition of the “Convittiadi”, organized by the National Convitto “Pasquale Galluppi”, concluded ” of Catanzaro. Present were the rectors of most of the Italian educational institutions belonging to Anies, the event – organized for the second year by the Catanzaro boarding school – saw the presence of around 2000 children accompanied by 200 educators and teachers. Truly significant numbers, as well as that of the sports in which the kids tried their hand: 12 disciplines (in addition to artistic representations) for a notable number of matches. It was the national boarding school “Vittorio Emanuele II” in Rome that won the most gold medals. Followed by the boarding school of the same name in Cagliari. But the winners were all the delegations who found extraordinary hospitality in Calabria and who experienced a week of sport, friendship and sharing.

“A few hours after the end of the event – comments the rector of the “Galluppi” boarding school, Stefania Cinzia Scozzafava – we are receiving certificates of esteem and appreciation from parents, educators and teachers from all over Italy for how we organized the event. It wasn’t easy to repeat last year’s success but by taking advantage of the experience gained, we managed to do even better. Applause goes to the staff of my school who worked for months to ensure that we were prepared for the week of the competitions.” The list of thanks is long: “Thanks go to the Calabria Region (the commitment of the vice-president Giusy Princi and the regional councilor Antonio Montuoro was exceptional); to the Province of Catanzaro and its president Amedeo Mormile; to the mayor Nicola Fiorita and to the entire Administration of the Municipality of Catanzaro; to the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Catanzaro, Crotone, Vibo Valentia Pietro Falbo, to the world of schools: starting from the director of the USR Calabria Antonella Iunti, to the managers of the partner institutes (Vito Vanzo of the ITTS “Scalfaro ” of Catanzaro, Daniela Quattrone of the IC “Gatti” and Susanna Mustari of the “Campanella” high school of Lamezia Terme). And also the mayors of the municipalities and the associations that have made their sports facilities available: Paolo Mascaro, mayor of Lamezia Terme, Pietrantonio Cristofaro of Girifalco, Valentina Cuda of Pianopoli, Elia Carmelo Pallaria of Cuinga, the Lory Volley and Malgradotutto associations. And, again, the private sponsors”.

“A virtuous network – commented Scozzafava – which has allowed us to bring this national event to our region, giving rise to a very important territorial marketing operation in line with the tourism promotion activities implemented by the Calabria Region. It was an experience that we will all carry in our hearts – concluded the rector – with the hope that, perhaps in a few years, Catanzaro will once again be assigned the organization of this extraordinary project: we have demonstrated that we do not lack skills and abilities” .
