The new warehouse in via Giorgione in Borgomeduna, recently inaugurated in the presence of key figures such as the municipal administration and bishop Giuseppe Pellegrini, represents a symbol of cooperation and solidarity for the city of Pordenone. Four main local associations have joined forces in this project: the Il Castello di Torre Association, the ProLoco Pordenone, the Pordenone Food Bank and the Assiscout, led respectively by Alessandro Casagrande, Gianfranco Tonus, Luciano Moro and Davide Moro.

Objectives and benefits of the shared warehouse

The idea of a shared warehouse was born mainly from the need of the Food Bank to find a garage for its vans and from the Il Castello Association, which was looking for an adequate space to store materials used during events. The participation of ProLoco and the Assiscouts it not only amplifies the logistical capacity of the warehouse but also the scope of the initiatives that can be implemented thanks to this synergy.

History and impact of the Food Bank in Pordenone

Luciano Moro, representative of the Food Bank for the province, recalled how the association has been active since 1997, organizing the Food Collection and subsequently the collection of fresh products. The growth of the organization has seen the involvement of personalities such as the former president of the Province Ciriani and the prefect Galante, fundamental for the expansion of the Food Bank’s activities. With 3 refrigerated vans and 70 volunteers, the association distributes food worth 2 million euros a year, supporting 25 charitable structures and numerous canteens.

The vision of the municipal administration

The Administration expressed great pride in the initiative, recognizing the important contribution of the associations to the cultural, social, educational and welfare well-being of Pordenone. These realities are seen as essential to activate community spirit, a value that we also wish to extend to other associations in the region.

Future perspectives

The collaboration model inaugurated with this shed not only optimizes available resources but lays the foundations for a replicable model, which could inspire other similar initiatives in different urban and rural contexts. The potential to extend this collaboration is vastand could lead to greater social cohesion and more efficient use of community resources.
