A dog walking with its owner in the Gocciadoro park in Trento ingested some drug eggs hidden among the shrubs and overdosed. Faced with the first symptoms of intoxication, the four-legged friend was taken to a veterinary clinic where he was saved at the last minute.
“We are not faced with an isolated event – Luca Lombardini, veterinary doctor and president of the National League for the Defense of Dogs of Trento, explained to ‘Il Dolomiti -. We have recorded other cases of drug poisoning also in the home and in areas of Piedicastello, Santa Maria Maggiore and in the green areas of the Albere district”.
The vet invites you to be very careful because the symptoms can appear a few hours after ingestion and, if you suspect that your animal may have come into contact with drugs, to go to the vet immediately: “If you intervene within an hour and a half after ingestion – explains Lombardini to ‘Il Dolomiti’ – it is in fact possible to induce vomiting pharmacologically or, in more serious cases, proceed with gastric lavage”.
