Frederic Vasseur prefers not to raise the bar too high on expectations regarding the updates that Ferrari will introduce to the SF24 at Imola
Despite it being McLaren who returned home from Miami with full spoils thanks to Lando Norris’ splendid victoryFerrari can still look forward to the rest of the championship with confidence, having achieved the podium with Charles Leclercwhich followed an excellent second place in the sprint.
An unexpected performance highlighted by SF24 in Florida, the only single-seater among the top teams to have not yet received significant updates.
While Red Bull and McLaren have introduced important development packages between Suzuka and Miami, the Maranello team preferred to continue with the basic platform in the first six seasonal outings, with Imola which will become a fundamental crossroads to understand if there could be the conditions to actually fight for the title.
Speaking to the media, including F1ingenerale, at the end of the weekend, Frederic Vasseur confirmed the upgrades in the pipeline, but did not want to raise the bar of expectations too much: “We’re at a point in the development of these machines where updates aren’t a huge leap. We don’t just have to think about the updates, but also about the work we do on the track.”
Nonetheless, the Frenchman is aware that, with such a compact grid, even finding a few tenths can still make the difference: “We shouldn’t expect the updates to be decisive, but they will still bring performance to such a compact group.”

Explaining instead why Imola was chosen as the stage to introduce the first developments, Vaseur commented: “We are pushing developments, and as soon as we are ready, we will send the parts into production.”
”The fact that Imola is close to the factory also helps, because we can bring the news later, but It has nothing to do with the fact that it’s the home race.”.
