“I’m happy to have returned to this territory. I thank the police chief for trusting me. I found a well-established police station and an adequate number of men.” Thus the new police commissioner of Trapani, Giuseppe Felice Peritore, meeting the journalists and taking the opportunity to extend his greetings to the city. “My role will always be based on group work, teamwork, also with the other police forces, under the coordination of the Prefect”, he adds. Sixty years old, graduated in Law and qualified as a lawyer, he joined the Administration in 1988 with assignment as first office at the Bergamo Police Headquarters. From 1990 to 2014 he worked at the Palermo Police Headquarters, where he directed offices particularly involved in the fight against organized crime and the prevention of widespread crime, including the Detached Public Security Commissariat of Termini Imerese and subsequently the Detached Public Safety Commissariat Bagheria safety. In the same place he was director of the Digos judicial police section. The last position carried out in Palermo was that of Director of the Public Security Commissariat at executive level “Zisa – Borgo Nuovo”. During his stay in Palermo he was assigned to other locations to carry out public order and security services of national importance. From August 2014 until June 2020 he was the Vicar of the Agrigento Police Headquarters. Here he was particularly involved in the management of the migratory flow affecting the Agrigento coast and the island of Lampedusa. In recent years he has also created training courses to educate the culture of legality, involving schools in the province. He was also a teacher of police law in refresher and professional training courses. Promoted to Senior Manager with effect from 1 January 2020, he was initially assigned to Rome at the Central Inspection Office of the Department of Public Security with the role of Inspector General. Since 1 August 2020 he has been manager of the first Border Police Zone of Turin, responsible for the maritime, air and land borders of Piedmont, Liguria and Valle D’Aosta. During his management, the mixed Italian-French team for border controls in Ventimiglia was activated, considered an innovative form of international collaboration between police forces. On 31 October 2021 he assumed the functions of Police Commissioner of the province of Imperia, remaining in this role until 5 May 2024. In 2022 he was awarded the honor of Knight of Merit of the Republic by the President of the Republic.
