Cagliari, 27 May 2024 – The Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the metropolitan city of Cagliari and the provinces of Oristano and Southern Sardinia announce the conclusion of the restoration and valorization works of the archaeological site of Santa Vittoria di Serri. This important intervention, started in 2018, benefited from significant funding as part of the “Museum system of the archaeological areas of southern Sardinia Lot I” project, with funds allocated by the 2016 Stability Law and subsequently integrated with the PNRR.

The site of Santa Vittoria di Serri is now recognized as a temple complex of great historical and cultural value. Investigations in the area have given a new look to the temple known as Cape’s Hut, which now appears inserted within a complex plan composed of other symmetrically arranged rooms. The returned materials, still in the process of restoration, indicate the chronology of the uses of the environments investigated. A model of a nuraghe also comes from the temple area, notable for its workmanship and shape, which has been completely restored. The model, characterized by a very fine decoration, is of extreme importance for understanding the religious practices and symbolism of the Nuragic culture.

The restored model will be presented to the public for the first time tomorrow, May 28, at 5:00 pm at the archaeological area of Serri, in a conference that will illustrate the results of the most recent investigations.
