“The future meets in the library”: this is the title of a series of meetings that the libraries of the Redop network dedicate to adolescents to accompany the growth path of girls and boys living in the province of Pistoia. The municipalities involved are 13: in addition to the capital Pistoia, the project also includes Agliana, Buggiano, Lamporecchio, Larciano, Montale, Massa e Cozzile, Monsummano Terme, Montecatini Terme, Pescia, Pieve a Nievole, San Marcello Piteglio, Serravalle Pistoiese, which they committed their libraries to a lifelong learning path aimed particularly at families and teacherswho find themselves experiencing a difficult relationship with those who are entering the adult world, amidst many difficulties.

There are two meetings scheduled in each location, which see some local experts (the pedagogist Olga Piemontese, the psychologists Elena Morano, Valentina Narducci, Silvia Cerri and Valentina Testa, and the reading aloud expert David Bargiacchi), committed to illustrating the many problems that concern this particular age group, characterized by fears, conflicts, uncertainties. The meetings are often repeated with the same formula in the different locations, to allow wider participation by the public.

The meetings, which will continue until the end of May, are free. For access conditions, contact the individual libraries.

The project was financed by the Ministry of Culture, which recognized it as worthy of a financial contribution of 7 thousand euros. In addition to the 26 meetings, the Redop network will offer a special publication in all the library branches of the province, with reading advice aimed at this age group, and a personalized gadget.
