Ravenna, 6 May 2024 – The Maritime Park and the redevelopment of the areas behind the dunes and in the pine forests of the Ravenna beaches are becoming more and more a reality and Ravenna residents and tourists are starting to see the first effects from Marina Romea to Lido di Savio (the redevelopment of the Casal Borsetti seaside route will instead start after the summer).

The cost will be approx 17 million for what the mayor of Ravenna Michele de Pascale defined as “the largest redevelopment intervention with tourist and environmental purposes in the history of Ravenna, comparable only to the planting of the coastal pine forests at the beginning of the twentieth century”.

The construction sites they will have to close no later than 2026 as per the obligations of Pnrrfrom which a good part of the funding comes (11 out of a total of 17 million euros) and the works are progressing and, he anticipates the councilor for public works Federica del Conte, “they could be finished by 2025”. An opportunity to be able to touch them firsthand was the ‘Maritime Walk & Run Park’ of recent days. The participants chose which of the two available itineraries to follow, with respective lengths of 3 and 8 km, for a recreational walk entirely in Marina di Ravenna, between the park and the pine forest.

Coming back at work, and starting from the North, in Marina Romea we are proceeding with the renovation of the squares, the reorganization of the car parks in front of the bathing establishments (which will not be canceled as will happen in Marina di Ravenna and Punta Marina) and the drainage trenches capable of letting the water flow away especially in the event of heavy rains. The works that can be seen on the seafront are instead linked to the construction of the cycle path and the new car parks parallel, and no longer perpendicular, to Viale Italia.

To Marina Romea and Porto Corsini the coastline will also be redeveloped, favoring the recomposition of the dune and “thinnings” will be carried out to facilitate the access of light and air and the regeneration of the pine forest. Going south, the effects of the works are already clearly visible between Marina di Ravenna and Punta Marina.

“In particular – explains Federica Del Conte – the missing walkways were completed last March and the so-called green gravels were created, paving similar to those of the exchange car park, which will cover the areas between the factories and the walkways themselves. In recent months they have then the 120 thousand trees and shrubs were planted.”

In Lido di Savio it was decided to proceed step by step, working from time to time on limited portions of Viale Romagna, in order to try to minimize inconvenience. We will try to complete the majority of the work before the summer. If it is not possible to complete the construction site before the start of the season, the works will continue with the least impactful processes.
