Objective to connect traffic flows between eastern and western Europe

Melzo – It will be operational by the end of 2024 intermodal rail service that unites Italy, Hungary and Romania – precisely Rail Hub in Melzo di Hannibal of the Contship group – and the terminals Bilk and Arad respectively of Budapest and Curtici. The connection will be operated as an open rail system. The train will make two weekly services and can carry up to 35 load units. In detail, departures from Italy are scheduled on Tuesday and Friday and in the reverse direction every Saturday and Tuesday, while the transit time will be 48 hours. A connection of over 1,500 kmwho sees the partnerships between two operators: Eurogate Intermodal which is entrusted with the traction of the intermodal train in Hungary and Romania and Oceanogate in the Italian section.
