MUSSOMELI – The mayor Giuseppe Catania, in his capacity as health manager of the municipality of Mussomeli, has forwarded a detailed information to the general director and to the health director of the Asp 2 of Caltanissetta, Salvatore Lucio Ficarra and Luciano Fiorella respectively in which he asks to “proceed with the immediate reactivation of the long-term care department in order to avoid: – any interruption of public service; – to respond to a specific need of the population residing in the internal area of the Union of Municipalities “Mussomeli – Valle dei Sicani” within which area the old age index is equal to approximately 211 elderly people for every 100 young people, much higher to the average one of Sicily; – align the choices of the strategic direction of the ASP of Caltanissetta with the guidelines of the Regional Government which, first with the approval of the Hospital Network and then with the approval of the new community programming 2021-2027, pays great attention to improving quality of services, including healthcare provision in the municipalities belonging to the internal area”. The first citizen then comments on the circumstance as follows: “After the great relaunch work carried out in the last year and a half, we do not accept attempts to weaken it. Even the citizens of this internal area (around 75,000 inhabitants in 15 municipalities) pay 19% of their taxes to cover healthcare costs and have the right to benefit from more efficient healthcare”. Meanwhile, for tomorrow 6 May the mayor has summoned all the trade unions to the Town Hall to hear their point of view and inform them of the actions he intends to undertake.
