One scene after another, regardless of the presence of strangers. On the phone, on the street, in front of the workplace. The most recent, a week ago, had once again required the intervention of the police. Who had “waved” in his face the ban on approaching him and the two measures for stalking which, by law, after complaints from his ex-wife, should have prevented him, 40-year-old Marco Manfrinati, from trying to reach and find himself next to the young woman , Lavinia Limido, 36 years old. All theory and no practice for this 40-year-old former lawyer (he had removed himself from the Bar Association before disciplinary proceedings were initiated against him, ed.) residing in Busto Arsizio (Va) who apparently allowed himself to be overwhelmed all too easily by anger for about three years. That is, since, like it or not, he had been forced to leave his marriage behind. Yesterday, shortly after 12.30, what many acquaintances had feared for some time. Manfrinati reached her ex in her studio, where the woman worked with her father, in via Ciro Menotti, in the Casbeno area, a residential area a stone’s throw from the police station and the center of Varese. He waited for the woman to go out into the street for her lunch break, then he ambushed her, pouncing on her and hitting her several times in the neck and face with a kitchen knife, attempting to kill her. He was prevented from doing so by the intervention of her ex-father-in-law, Fabio, a seventy-one-year-old geologist, who reached the couple running, alerted by the screams of her daughter and tried to defend her by placing himself between her and her ex-son-in-law. When help arrived, however, in addition to a wound on his face and hand, Doctor Limido had suffered a cardiac arrest. Which, despite the resuscitation efforts of the rescuers and the intervention of the air ambulance, killed him shortly after his arrival at the Circolo di Varese hospital. The same one where her daughter was hospitalized and, having undergone emergency surgery, remains with a reserved prognosis and in danger of dying.
While the rescuers were in via Menotti and Manfrinati was guarded by the «Volanti» policemen who had no difficulty disarming him and seizing his knife, the 63-year-old wife of the victim and mother of the woman stabbed by the ex arrived on the scene: immediately surrounded by neighbors and from her friends the woman still didn’t know that her husband had passed away, and she too was taken to the Circolo hospital suffering from illness.
Tension was high when Manfrinati was taken away by the police: some people shouted “murderer!” at him.
