There is ‘A book for tea’ against gambling addiction

A book against gambling addiction. But also to say no to violence. A read to spend time together and take up the slot machine seat. This is the heart of the ‘A book for tea’ initiative created in 2016 by the cultural association of Rimini businesses ‘Zeinta di Borg’ and which since last year has supported the Municipality of Rimini in encouraging locals to eliminate slot machines. The appointment with the presentations returns today, from 5.30pm, to the Gorza Gallery in via XX Settembre 32. A single date with 4 titles to be enjoyed in company without forgetting the social aspect that drives the event. “We have been carrying it forward since 2016 and today, by combining several presentations, we want to send a stronger message: commercial activities must give greater distance to gambling addiction – explains the president of Zeinta di Borg, Andrea Amedei –. The resulting problems are immense. Our review involves local businesses, local publishers and the municipal administration who have understood and accepted the message, as well as the traders who receive 1,500 euros from the Municipality for each gaming machine removed, an initiative created by Zeinta de Borg last year. For each venue that has made this choice we have organized a book presentation.” This afternoon’s literary party will begin at 5.30pm at the Gorza Gallery and will see the presentation of four titles. ‘Mysteries and Rimini workshops of the fifteenth century’ by Oreste Delucca (Panozzo Editore), ‘The beauty of sin’ by Federica Vennitti and Valerio Dehò (Nfc Edizioni); ‘Enrico and Giuliano’ by Francesco Selvi (Baldini+Castoldi) and ‘Becoming the Boss (of yourself)’ by Elena Borghi, general secretary of Zeinta di Borg. “Gambling in the last 15 years has become a plague – added the city councilor for health policies Kristian Gianfreda –. Unfortunately, social gaming has led to a pathology which leads to very serious consequences. In Rimini there is the association of anonymous players and that of family members. Talking about it in contexts other than therapeutic ones is very important.” In addition to the Municipality supporting the ‘A book for tea’ event, there is also Riviera Banca: “We believe in culture and in raising people’s awareness of very important issues – explained the president of Riviera Banca, Fausto Caldari –. Like the no to gambling addiction, violence against women and the yes to personal growth and people’s well-being. We are a community bank that is close to the territory and does so by supporting many initiatives, enhancing social issues, young people, initiatives and the places where it is based.” . For information on the exhibition and the association’s initiatives, the number 388 786 1971 is available. Entrance to today’s event is free.
