Cosenza, the Telesio high school pays homage to the memory of Nuccio Ordine

COSENZA – Tuesday 7 May at 5.30pm the Telesio Classical High School celebrates Nuccio Ordine, one year later, on June 10th, after his sudden death. An enormous loss for the entire academic and cultural world: Ordine was a scholar, author and university professor generous with frank suggestions and witty teachings, aimed above all at young people, constantly stimulated by him to regain possession of apparently useless things, to chase their dreams and to spend themselves with efforts and sacrifices to achieve themwithout pretexts and shortcuts.

“Our task – he repeated in his public speeches – is to make our students understand that you don’t go to high school to get a diploma! Culture and study are not just useful for a profession, they serve to train free citizens and not simple consumers, men and women capable of thinking with their own heads, revolutionary heretics and not battery chickens”. “Nuccio Ordine a lesson” is no coincidence that this is what the title of the meeting says, a title that leaves open the declination, through different terms, of what we mean by Nuccio Ordine’s lesson.

Two leading experts will be present at the important moment, hosted in the Stefano Rodotà Library of Italian Literature and Theoretical Philosophy, respectively Giulio Ferroni, master and professor of the Order, had followed his degree and doctoral thesis, and Giacomo Marramao, his great friend, already a guest with him at the “Rodotà” on the occasion of its dedication.
