Naples, starting tomorrow the Metro 1 ticket will increase to 1.50 euros

From tomorrow, 6 May 2024, a single ticket for the Line 1 metro in Naples will cost 1.50 euros, instead of 1.30 euros.

The increase concerns only the single ticket and not season tickets or daily tickets. The old 1.30 euro tickets will still be valid for travel on funiculars, buses, trams and trolleybuses.

This is the fourth Line 1 metro ticket increase in 7 years. The last increase dates back to September 2023, when the price went from 1.20 to 1.30 euros.

The increase was decided by the Campania Region to bring the fares of Line 1 into line with those of the other railway lines in the region.

The transport company Anm has announced that the increased revenue deriving from the increase will be used to improve the service, with the aim of reducing waiting times on the dock to 7-8 minutes.

The increase has provoked protests from consumers, who call it “absurd” and “unjustified”. Assoutenti Campania has asked for the measure to be canceled and has announced that it will submit a report to the Transport Regulatory Authority.

Ticket for tourists valid for 3 days at 10.80 euros

Among the innovations planned for the future of public transport in Naples is the introduction of a new ticket valid for 3 days for tourists, which will cost 10.80 euros.

Furthermore, Line 6 of the metro will come into operation in July, which should increase the number of users and related revenues for Anm.

Despite the positive news, a 24-hour national public transport strike is planned for May 5, which could cause inconvenience for commuters.
